Artful Expressions

Each spring, the Foundation hosts “Artful Expressions,” a student art exhibition celebrating creativity, innovation, and the power of visual storytelling. The showcase also provides young artists with an opportunity to explore big ideas, express their perspectives, and have their work displayed in a professional gallery setting.

All Florida Virtual School (FLVS) and Florida Scholars Academy (FSA) students are invited to participate. Students submit work in categories such as digital art, drawing, painting, photography, and mixed media. The artwork is displayed in the Orlando Science Center’s upper‑level gallery each spring. And a one-night ticketed community reception brings students, families, and community members from across the state together to celebrate.

Each year features a theme designed to spark imagination and challenge students to think beyond the classroom. Past themes have encouraged students to explore topics such as:

  • Space and exploration
  • Nature and the environment
  • Innovation and engineering
  • Imagination and storytelling

Students' artwork often blends creativity with problem‑solving and conceptual thinking—core skills that support success across both the arts and STEM disciplines.

2026 Artful Expressions Exhibition

More than 72 student pieces, including space‑themed photography, digital art, paintings, and mixed‑media work, are displayed in the Orlando Science Center’s upper‑level gallery.

The exhibition, on display from XXX to April 4, highlighted how creativity and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts come together through student expression.

During the community celebration on March 1, Veteran NASA astronaut, engineer, and artist Nicole Stott shared her perspective on how art and science work together to support innovation and exploration.
